For UK employees earning £80k+

Keep more of what you earn. Without earning a penny more.

You worked hard for this money. Don't let tax quietly take the credit. Most high earners are owed thousands back — through HMRC-approved schemes already sitting inside their own employer's payroll. Find yours in 5 minutes.

£29.99/year, unlimited use all tax year. 14-day money-back guarantee. No financial jargon.

Here's one example of what's being left on the table.

For every £2 earned between £100,000 and £125,140, you lose £1 of your personal allowance — on top of the tax already due. It's a quiet, legal 60% marginal rate that catches most high earners completely off guard. It's one of several levers Earnwise models — and, like the others, it's entirely avoidable with the right structuring.

What Earnwise covers

Every lever for keeping more of your money, in one place.

Toggle each lever on or off and see, in real time, exactly what it's worth this tax year. This is what being in control of your money actually looks like.

£

Salary sacrifice pension

Model employee and employer contributions, NIC-saving recycled back into your pension, and the effect on your annual allowance taper in real time.

Carried-forward allowance

Use unused pension annual allowance from the previous three tax years to shelter a much larger lump sum.

Personal SIPP contributions

Add your own SIPP on top of workplace pension, with automatic higher and additional-rate relief through grossed-up contributions.

Benefit-in-kind schemes

EV company car, cycle to work, and childcare — sacrifice schemes stacked together for maximum effect.

Personal allowance rescue

See precisely how much sacrifice is needed to pull your adjusted net income back under £100,000 — and keep more of what you make.

Gift Aid & Marriage Allowance

Charitable donations and spouse allowance transfers — smaller levers that stack up, modelled alongside everything else.

Child Benefit charge (HICBC)

See exactly how much of your Child Benefit the high income charge claws back — and how pension or Gift Aid contributions reduce it.

VCT / EIS / SEIS relief

Upfront income tax relief on qualifying investments — a useful lever once your pension annual allowance is fully used.

Know your tax code

Enter your real tax code, student loan plan and any other at-source deductions for a more accurate, personalised estimate.

FAQ

Good questions.

Is this financial advice? +

No. Earnwise is an educational planning tool that shows you what's available under current tax rules — it is not regulated financial, tax or pensions advice, and Earnwise is not FCA-authorised. For anything you intend to act on, especially larger pension or carry-forward decisions, we'd always recommend checking with a qualified financial adviser or accountant.

Who is this built for? +

UK employees earning roughly £80,000 and above — in tech, finance, consulting, engineering, medicine, law and senior management — who are on PAYE and whose employer offers (or could offer) salary sacrifice. If you're anywhere near the £100k–£125,140 band, the personal allowance taper alone usually pays for Earnwise many times over.

I'm self-employed or a company director — is this for me? +

Earnwise is currently built around PAYE employment — salary sacrifice, benefit-in-kind schemes and employer pension contributions all rely on having an employer to run them through, so it's most powerful if you're employed. Several of the other levers (personal SIPP contributions, Gift Aid, Marriage Allowance, VCT/EIS/SEIS) still apply if you're self-employed or a director, but the core employer-side modelling won't. We're exploring a self-employed and director version — let us know if you'd like to hear when it's ready.

Does my employer need to offer salary sacrifice already? +

It helps, but it's not essential. Earnwise shows you what to ask for — many of these schemes cost employers little to nothing to set up, and we'll give you the wording to raise it with HR.

What do I get for £29.99? +

A full tax year of unlimited access to The Earnwise Calculator — run as many scenarios as you like, as often as you like — refreshed each time allowances or thresholds change, plus a downloadable summary of your plan to take to payroll or your adviser. It renews automatically each tax year unless you cancel, and if it's not useful, ask for a refund within 14 days of your first payment.

About Earnwise

Built by people who were doing this in spreadsheets.

For years, the team behind Earnwise managed their own finances the hard way — spreadsheets, manually-built formulas, and a lot of trial and error trying to work out how to keep more of what they'd earned. That's where the idea for the Earnwise calculator came from. We couldn't be the only ones struggling to get a clear, educated picture of how best to structure our own income — so we built the tool we wished we'd had: one place with all the information, that helps UK employees make more informed decisions about how to make their own earnings go further.

Our mission is to help people make more informed decisions about their financial position, so their hard-earned income goes further.

Using The Earnwise Calculator

How to get your number.

The Earnwise Calculator walks through each part of your pay and benefits, one panel at a time — here's what each step does.

1. Your income

Enter your gross salary, any bonus, and your current tax code. This sets the baseline Earnwise measures every scenario against.

2. Pension & carry-forward

Add your current workplace and personal pension contributions, then see how much unused allowance you can carry forward from the last three tax years.

3. Benefits & other reliefs

Switch on EV car, cycle to work, childcare, Gift Aid, Marriage Allowance and other levers that apply to you.

4. Your snapshot

A free, always-visible summary of your tax band, effective rate and tax-free allowance — so you always see something useful, even before unlocking the full breakdown.

5. Compare scenarios

See your current plan side-by-side with a boosted-pension option and the maximum-efficiency structure, and exactly what changes between them.

6. Unlock & action it

For £29.99/yr, unlock the full breakdown, export a summary for payroll or your adviser, and come back and re-run it as often as you like, all tax year.

That's an estimate of the gap between what you're keeping today and what's available to you with the most tax-efficient structure for your numbers — based only on the income entered above. Create your account to see exactly where it comes from and how to get there. The most tax-efficient structure isn't automatically the right one for everyone: it generally means less cash in your pocket right now, so this works best alongside your own judgement about your near-term needs, and ideally a conversation with your employer or a financial adviser.

Figures above are estimates only, based solely on the income details you've entered here, for illustration purposes — not a payslip, not a guarantee, and not financial advice. See the full disclaimer below.

Legal & privacy

Privacy, terms and cookies.

The detail, for anyone who wants it. We'll keep this updated as the service develops.

Privacy Policy +

Earnwise (earnwise.co.uk) is operated by Catalyst Partners Limited ("we", "us"), which is the data controller for the personal data described here — see Company information in our Terms & Conditions below for our full registered details.

What we collect: account details (name, email, a securely hashed password — we never store your password in readable form); payment status (payment itself is handled entirely by our payment processor — we never see or store your card details); the figures you enter into The Earnwise Calculator, used to generate your results; and, only if you actively request them, details you provide for an adviser introduction or an emailed summary. We also collect standard technical and usage data, and anything described in our Cookie Policy below.

Why: to provide your account and The Earnwise Calculator (contract necessity); to process your payment (contract necessity); to send you anything you've specifically requested, such as an adviser introduction or a PDF summary (consent); to improve the service (legitimate interest, or consent where cookies require it); and to meet our own legal and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with: our account-hosting and payment-processing providers, each acting under their own data processing terms with us, and a regulated financial adviser, but only where you've actively asked for an introduction. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

How long we keep it: account data for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards in case you wish to reactivate; adviser-introduction and summary-request data for a limited period or until the request is concluded.

Your rights: under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal data, and object to certain processing. Contact us at privacy@earnwise.co.uk to exercise any of these. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we've mishandled your data.

Children: Earnwise is intended for adults aged 18 and over; we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Terms & Conditions +

Company information: earnwise.co.uk and The Earnwise Calculator (the "Service") are provided by Catalyst Partners Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17367408, with registered office at Apollo House, Hallam Way, Whitehills Business Park, Blackpool, England, FY4 5FS ("Catalyst Partners", "we", "us"). "Earnwise" is a trading name of Catalyst Partners.

What Earnwise is — and isn't: an educational modelling and calculation tool that shows you, based on figures you enter, how UK tax rules might apply to different ways of structuring your income, pension contributions and benefits. Earnwise is not financial, tax, legal or pensions advice. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and nothing on the Service should be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified, regulated financial adviser or accountant.

Eligibility: you must be at least 18 and UK resident to use the Service.

Your account: you're responsible for keeping your login confidential and for all activity under your account.

Price and payment: full access is provided for an annual payment, currently £29.99 per tax year, shown in pounds sterling. We are not currently VAT-registered, so no VAT is added to this price; if that changes in future, this clause will be updated to say whether VAT is included in or added to the price shown. Your access renews automatically each year on 6 April (the first day of the new tax year) at the price then in effect, unless you cancel before that date. We'll email you ahead of each renewal to remind you it's coming and explain how to cancel if you don't want to continue.

Your right to cancel: because this is a distance contract, UK law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) gives you the right to cancel within 14 days of your first purchase, without giving a reason, for a full refund. We go further than the law requires: our money-back guarantee is unconditional for the full 14 days, whether or not you've used The Earnwise Calculator, and we don't deduct anything for use already had. After the 14-day period, your payment for that tax year is non-refundable except as required by law. You can also cancel at any time ahead of a renewal — just email us before your renewal date and we won't charge you again, and this won't affect the access you've already paid for. To cancel at any point, email support@earnwise.co.uk.

Quality of the Service: nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including your right to a repeat performance or a price reduction if the digital content we supply is not of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, or as described.

Accuracy of figures: the Service calculates results from the figures you provide and from UK tax rules as we understand them at the time. We don't guarantee the figures are error-free or reflect your full personal circumstances, and we accept no liability for decisions made on the basis of the Service, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, or affects your statutory rights above.

Acceptable use: don't use the Service to access other users' data, to reverse-engineer The Earnwise Calculator's logic for commercial reuse, or in any way that breaches applicable law.

Intellectual property: Earnwise® is a registered trademark. The Service's design, The Earnwise Calculator's underlying logic, and content belong to us or our licensors.

Governing law: England and Wales.

Complaints: email support@earnwise.co.uk and we'll aim to resolve it directly. Earnwise is not part of any sector-specific ombudsman scheme (it is not a regulated financial product), but unresolved disputes can be referred to Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.

Cookie Policy +

Earnwise does not currently set any cookies at all — no analytics, no marketing or tracking cookies, and (until accounts are live) no login cookie either. Because of this, no cookie consent banner is currently needed. If this changes in future — for example, if we introduce analytics or a persistent login — we'll update this policy first and show a consent banner before any non-essential cookie is set, as UK cookie law (PECR) requires.

Important — this is not financial advice. Earnwise is an educational modelling tool. It is designed to give you general information and a financial education about tax-efficient allowances available under UK law — it does not provide, and is not a substitute for, financial, tax, legal or pensions advice, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. All figures, results and projections shown on this site and in The Earnwise Calculator are estimates only, generated from the information you input and our understanding of current HMRC rules at the time of calculation. They are provided for illustration and general planning purposes, are not a payslip, and are not a guarantee of any outcome. Your actual tax position depends on your full personal circumstances, which this tool cannot capture in their entirety. By using this site or The Earnwise Calculator, you accept that any decision you make is made independently and at your own discretion, and that you will seek advice from a qualified, regulated financial adviser or accountant before acting on anything shown here, particularly in relation to pension, carry-forward or investment decisions.
